Last week we got enough snow to start the winter for real. Today we were at a friends’ place for a play date. The kids were really enjoying the snow!

These shots are taken with an off-camera speedlight. I was trying to balance some ambient light into the shots and really get the subjects and the flying snow to stand out with the flash. The 1/4 CTO gel was too warm for the ambient light, maybe a 1/4 blue would have worked better. In situations like this where the kids are constantly moving around, TTL would be a nice addition to the off-camera flash. Some shots were totally burned because of the constantly changing subject to flash distance. On the other hand maybe I should just try to learn to adjust the aperture according to the subject movement.
